ComeOn removes online gambling services in the UK
Online gambling operator, ComeOn, has decided to stop offering services in the United Kingdom. Based in Malta, the company will now be looking for other jurisdictions that offer a more favorable environment. Comeon, getlucky.com and mobilenet.com will all remove operations from the UK before Brexit.
Avoiding Financial Risk:
ComeOn CEO, Lahcne Merzoug, stated that the UK is a very mature market and highly competitive. The risk financially in the region is big and the company has never experienced a non-compliance breach. Other competitors have been fined in large amounts and this has created uncertainly for the operator. The removal of services seems to be a way to avoid any major financial risk.
According to CalvinAyre…
On September 23rd, players based in the United Kingdom will no longer be accepted by the company. By the 27th, accounts will be closed. Players will have a short amount of time to withdraw funds before the process may become more difficult.
ComeOn first began offering online gaming services in the region back in 2014 when they obtained licensing from the Gaming Commission. The company was then acquired by Cherry AB and became the brand’s top business-to-consumer vertical operation. Now, it seems uncertainty and more pressure from regulations coming in the future if forcing the company to reevaluate and move elsewhere to avoid any issues.
New Partnership Deals:
The announcement of the operator leaving the UK comes just a few months after the operator penned a partnership agreement with SBTech. The online sports betting technology agreement will see the two working together via sports betting products.
The deal is actually a renewal of the two company’s long-term partnership, seeing it continuing to provide the firm with a complete suite of sportsbetting solutions.
